About Stephen Howes

Stephen is a chartered building surveyor with 32 years of experience.

Having obtained his degree in building surveying from South Bank University between 1980 – 1984, he went on to work for the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, Goddard & Smith property managers in Paddington and finally Meredith & Co with London offices in SW7, carrying out surveys and valuations in Knightsbridge and South Kensington.

In 1988 he became self-employed, carrying out surveys in Greater London, Surrey and Oxfordshire together with working for the Chesterbeech Group supervising building works predominantly on older Victorian properties, with contract values up to £1 million.

During this time period, he undertook a post-graduate diploma in building conservation under the auspices of Reading University and was one of the first chartered surveyors in the country to obtain this qualification.
